deep inhales in iron lungs
feel the struggle within
an exodus of carbon

fire it burns were surrounded
by excess and deliverance
heavy air it slows our thoughts
we enter dreams
we enter loss

the atmosphere it closes in
a bed we've made a bed we've been
making out of our own sins
of ecologic dividends

generations came and went
and left us with monuments
devoid of use devoid of sense
that linger still with arguments

the smell of smoke becomes stronger
a more imminent a danger
our collective mortal coil surges
grasping in collective urges

survival is a mutual use
a common dream a common thirst
if only we could hold on to
empathy that barrels down

our futures on the horizons
as we wait in valleys crashing down
